Visit the Studio of famous Aritist “Bedri Baykam”

 

Bedri Baykam was born in 1957 in Ankara. He started to paint when he was only two years old. He had many exhibitions since the age of six in several cities like Bern, Geneva, N. York, Washington, London, Rome, Munich, Stockholm, etc. during his childhood years. He was known as a child prodigy.

He studied in Sorbonne University in Paris from 1975 to 1980. During this time, he also studied drama in L’Actorat, in Paris.

He lived in California for 7 years between 1980 and 1987. In California, he studied film making and painting. He returned to Turkey in 1987 and he has been living in Istanbul since.

He had 77 one-man-shows in various countries, wrote 15 books. Five of them were on art (one in English) and others were on politics.

 

He directed 16mm.short films and he has acted in his several films. He is working for “The Association for Supporting the Contemporary Living” and “The Association for Atatürk’s Thoughts.” He was also founder of the “Plastic Arts Associations.”

 

Between 1995-1998, he was a member of the Assembly of the Social Democrat Republican

People’s Party” (CHP).Also he is an editor of the monthly art magazine Skala.

 

Bedri Baykam is also the owner of the publishing company Piramid.
